Ua Mau Ke Ea O Ka ʻAina I Ka Pono, “The Life of the Land is perpetuated in Righteousness” is the motto of the Kingdom of Hawaiʻi that was bequeathed to all by King Kamehameha III. It underlies the spirit of aloha and reinforces our mission to do good in the world in the name of Christ. Members of the Cathedral's Outreach Committee actively participate in a variety of community outreach programs.

Supporting our Keiki & Youth
​Kalihi-Waena Elementary School/Central Middle School

For many years, the Cathedral has helped to support these nearby schools where over 80% of the children are below the Federal poverty level. St. Andrew’s collects donations of school supplies, slippers, and back packs for these kids at the beginning of every school year; without this assistance, many would be kept home by their parents because they can’t afford basic supplies. 

In addition, at Kalihi Waena's annual Christmas party each year, a unique partnership between St. Andrew’s and P&E Foods delivers several pounds of meat to each of about 200 families with kids who attend the school — typically, a ton of meat in total!

Wallyhouse Sandwich Ministry

Part of our feeding ministry includes making 100 lunch bags for Wallyhouse, run by the Catholic Worker at St. Elizabeth's.  Located in the heart of downtown, Wallyhouse provides much needed services, meals, clothing, and support to our neighbors in need.
