"By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to set out…”

Ma ka manaʻoʻiʻo hoʻi i hoʻolohe ai ʻo ʻAberahama,
i ka wā i hea ʻia mai ai e hele aku i kahi

[from Hebrews 11:8]
Dear Cathedral ʻOhana,

At the Easter Vigil, Bishop Fitzpatrick preached on Abraham: faithfulness, sometimes, looks like going. It is an ancient instinct, older than the law, older than the prophets — to hear the call and move. As John Bunyan offers in The Pilgrim's Progress, reframed by Percy Dearmer for our hymn text (Hymnal 1982, #564): "…there's no discouragement shall make him once relent his first avowed intent to be a pilgrim."

With a heart of gratitude and joy, I share that I have accepted a call as Upper School Chaplain at St. Christopher's School in Richmond, Virginia. I will depart the Cathedral of Saint Andrew at the end of this school year, with deep thankfulness and resounding aloha for six extraordinary years with this Cathedral ʻOhana, and ten years serving in this Diocese. My new call begins on July 1, 2026.
