...This is a return to full-time school chaplaincy — the shape my vocation has held for nearly all 23 of my ordained years — and I receive it with joy. I have asked myself what faithfulness to this Cathedral looks like in this moment, and I believe it looks like this: departing with care, in alignment with Bishop Fitzpatrick's own transition. It is not coincidence; it is prayerful discernment. I hold this call with steadfast clarity and profound gratitude, trusting the Cathedral's next chapter to the community and leadership who will carry it forward. Bishop Fitzpatrick, as Rector of the Cathedral, is engaged in the transition and will share more with the community in the coming days.

To have been your priest these six years has been among the greatest gifts of my ordained life. The pews are full. The community is strong. What we have built belongs to you, not to me, and I leave it with pride and with peace.

I am grateful beyond what words can hold: for this Cathedral ʻOhana, for Hawaiʻi which has been home, for a generous and patient kumu, for a Bishop who leads with integrity — who, with you, shaped this chapter of my ordained life, and whose own transition made this the right moment for mine — and for an Easter Vigil sermon that told me what I already knew: that faithfulness sometimes looks like going.
